John McCain: Reformer by Proxy

September 14th, 2008 by Fierce Bob | Filed under Don't Start With Me.

I just found out something huge. I was just reviewing the tape of John McCain on The View, from last week. On that tape, he says something amazing about Celebrity Governor Sarah Palin.

First, Barbara Walters and he agree that CGSP was chosen specifically to “reform the government” in Washington. Barbara then tries to pin him down on what, specifically, she’s going to reform. That’s when McCain makes the following statement:

“The Republican Party, The Democrat Party, even an independent. She will reform all of Washington.”

You have to admit, that’s a socko campaign promise. It may be unprecedented in its breadth. It’s an especially bold promise when you consider that it was attached to the Vice Presidential candidate. Here we have the Republican Presidential candidate saying that the VP is going to do what he has been promising us all he would do throughout most of the campaign.

At least Palin now has an answer to the question she asked just a few weeks ago: “What is it exactly that the VP does every day?”

Mystery solved. The VP is going to reform all of Washington, which I assume means everything, from the top of the Capitol Building all the way to Larry Craig’s favorite public restroom.

I have two serious questions. One, under what constitutional authority does a Vice President have the power to reform all of Washington?

Two, what’s John McCain going to be doing while the Celebrity Vice President reforms the whole town? Is he planning to retire after the election, even if he wins?
